Utilizing education, experience, training, and intuition, I employ massage therapy techniques to work with soft tissues of the body toward client goals. Outcomes may include reduced stress and tension, and increased wellbeing.
Through careers in organic farming and the restaurant industry, as well as a lifelong practice in martial arts, I understand firsthand many of the challenges our bodies can present. Helping others heal is an important part of being human and a primary motivation for me professionally.
Swedish Massage utilizes five basic strokes (gliding, kneading, tapping, shaking, and friction) to mobilize blood and lymph, soften tissues, and stimulate the nervous system. Oil or cream are applied to the skin to facilitate technique. The client is undressed to their level of comfort during this treatment and professional draping is used throughout the session.
Deep Tissue begins with a foundation of Swedish technique and then progressively works into deeper tissue layers with circular, parallel, and cross-fiber friction. An emphasis on full structure articulation is employed to renew and restore challenged areas. This type of massage may result in temporary soreness or discomfort and often involves a recovery period.
These sessions are custom built through in-person client / therapist communication and are based on client desired outcomes / goals. For example, a Treatment session may involve longer duration work on a specific area of the body, allowing both client and therapist to more deeply address a specific challenge.
